Member Services Supervisor supervises a group of member services representatives that address health plan or HMO member inquiries, questions and concerns in all areas including enrollment, claims, benefit interpretation, and referrals/authorizations for medical care. Responsible for researching more complex questions, investigating the cause of the issue, and responding to members on escalated issues. Being a Member Services Supervisor assists with hiring, training, ongoing monitoring and QA, performance evaluations and any corrective actions of member services representatives. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Member Services Supervisor typically reports to a manager. The Member Services Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.     The Early Learning/Community Services Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Early Learning Administrator in the development and implementation of the district’s early learning and community services programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the supervision and training of program staff, development and organization of program functions, budgeting and assisting in the financial management of program components, maintaining high standards for sanitation and safety, and facilitating positive relationships with education and community partners, including administrators, staff, parents, and students.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    1. Provide supervision and training for Family Support Specialists.
    2. Provide professional coaching and development opportunities for Interpreter/Translators, Community Resource Specialists and Preschool Promise staff.
    3. Implement early childhood, parent education and family support programming in the Family Resource Center.
    4. Network and collaborate with community partners to bring services for families into district programs.
    5. Maintain appropriate program standards, licensure, and certifications for Early Learning Center programs.
    6. Oversee Family Resource Center schedules and programming.
    7. Oversee referrals to community resources.
    8. Establish and maintain effective working relationship with Community Health Worker at PeaceHealth Medical Center.
    9. Establish connection between academic success and basic needs by working to remove barriers preventing families from accessing and/or using the available resources.
    10. Consult with program staff on issues that arise with children and families.
    11. Respond to general inquiries and/or concerns by applying problem solving strategies that result in positive resolution
    12. Implement data collection and reporting systems for Early Learning Center programs.
    13. Maintain records and prepare reports, as necessary.
    14. Establish open communication and interactions with program staff and continually build relationships built on trust and respect.
    15. Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment.
    16. Participate as an effective team member.
    17. Attend work regularly and punctually.
    18. Attend School Board meetings when needed; prepare and present reports/responses related to program services.
    19. Follow and support South Lane School District policies and procedures.
    20. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in professional development opportunities.
    21. Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education and/or Experience:
      • Bachelor’s degree in education, early childhood development, social work, or a community service related field, or Associate degree or equivalent educational experience, and at least 2 years of relevant community services or other related program experience is required. Any combination of education and experience that would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the job requirements will be considered.
      • Prior management and supervisory experience.
      • Experience with community advocacy, community health models, and grant management.
      • Bilingual Spanish language skills preferred.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on solving conflict; maintaining confidentiality; and contributing to building a positive team spirit. Effective communication skills are essential for conflict resolution, training, and day-to-day management duties. Demonstrated ability to establish strong interpersonal relationships with District personnel and other agency staff and community members. Ability to maintain integrity and confidential information related to students, staff, or district patrons.
    • Language Skills: Ability to communicate fluently verbally and effectively in writing in English. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents, staff, or members of the community. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Demonstrated ability to compose, produce clear, coherent professional documents and deliver professional presentations to various stakeholder groups
    • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Able to read, understand and effectively train others in department’s standards and guidelines.
    • Computer Skills: Ability to proficiently use the following programs strongly preferred: Google Apps, MS Word, Excel, email internet applications and specialized software programs.
    • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to appropriately communicate with diverse staff and others including vendors and other agencies. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
    • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certificates as determined by the district including a valid Oregon Driver License and First Aid Card.
