Membership Director oversees an association or member organization's strategic goal-setting, implementation, and service operations to expand membership and deliver member satisfaction. Develops programs and initiatives to engage current members and recruit new ones. Being a Membership Director establishes service operational standards and policies to deliver efficient services to members. Implements web or social media processes to promote the organization and distribute membership information to prospective members. Additionally, Membership Director uses data-driven analysis, tools, and reports to measure member satisfaction and retention and to optimize services. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Membership Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Membership Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     The primary job duties of the Membership & Communications Specialist are to:

    1) oversee the membership initiatives of the Chamber of Commerce (including engaging existing members, onboarding new members, and facilitating membership leads), and

    2) assist with the Chamber’s communication and event planning needs (e-blasts, social media posts, website, committee meetings) to create brand awareness and drive top-of-mind engagement of membership activities and benefits

    From visits to area businesses and luncheons on special topics to our once-a-month evening networking Business After Hours gathering or planning our annual Women in Leadership Conference, you’ll have a healthy but manageable To Do List with opportunities to engage with a diverse group of business professionals. A day in the life of a Chamber employee is focused on membership (recruiting new members to join and retaining existing members) and implementing programming to connect with those members.

    2. Yes, it’s a full-time job, but we have lots of flexibility

    Occasionally we can take a day to work from home to encourage a healthy work/life balance. Need to go to the dentist next Tuesday? It’s ok and understood that you have a life outside of work. Not stressing about these interruptions allows you to focus on your productivity and job duties.

    3. Half days off on Fridays during the summer!

    Who doesn’t like a few extra hours to start the weekend when it’s sunny out?

    4. We have great members and they are a ton of fun to network with and see at our events!

    Plus, as our Membership & Communications Specialist, you’ll be signing up many more new members to add to the fun!

    5. Ongoing professional development and training is supported!

    If there is a conference or webinar that is needed to enhance our skillset, our Board of Directors encourages personal growth and bringing that knowledge back to the Chamber so that we can be more efficient and innovative.

    6. THREE weeks of Paid Time Off AND TWELVE paid holidays

    Chamber employees receive 12 paid holidays, plus as a new employee you will accrue 3 weeks of PTO annually (after your first 90 days.)

    The essential responsibilities of the job include:

    · Launch initiatives for membership engagement and growth (onboard new members, meet with potential members, connect with existing members)

    · Facilitate new member activities and orientation (ribbon cuttings, grand openings, Champion visits)

    · Maintain and update membership database

    · Secure Business After Hours and Lunch & Learns hosts and work together to ensure success for the host and attendees

    · Track event attendance and membership for metrics/engagement

    · Prepare communications to members, committees and other stakeholders (e-blasts, social media posts, emails, website)

    · Assist in the planning and implementing of the Chamber’s key special events (such as Women in Leadership Conference, Annual Awards Gala, luncheons) with committees comprised of the Chamber staff, Board and members

    Requirements:

    Ideal applicants should meet the following qualifications:

    · Excellent ability to communicate, both written and verbally, with individuals and groups

    · Demonstrated ability to manage projects and events from concept to completion, including managing a budget and volunteer resources.

    · Task and detail oriented with a proven track record of managing challenging situations and deadlines.

    · Intermediate or higher level of proficiency in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, photography and social media

    · Must have a polished demeanor and be comfortable working with people at all levels

    · Associates/Bachelors in Business, Marketing, or Communications or equivalent experience

    · Candidates must be able to work a few evening hours each month when an occasional networking or special event is scheduled after regular business hours.

    The salary range for the Membership & Communications Specialist is $35,000 - $40,000. The position does not currently offer health insurance or retirement benefits.
