Membership Manager manages an association or member organization's service operations to expand membership, deliver member satisfaction, and achieve strategic goals. Implements programs and initiatives to engage current members and recruit new ones. Being a Membership Manager follows service operational standards and policies to deliver efficient services to members. Utilizes web or social media processes to promote the organization and distribute membership information to prospective members. Additionally, Membership Manager maintains a database or system using data collection processes, tools, and analysis to measure and report on member satisfaction and retention. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Membership Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Membership Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Membership Services Director

  • The position exists to provide quality service to SCWA members. SCWA’s foundation and strength comes from developing and maintaining a strong membership base. The position provides accurate and timely membership information and services to members, volunteers and staff.

    Impact

    This position has a direct impact on chapter performance, data retention, as well as membership revenues and growth. Maintenance of accurate membership and other donor data is vital to SCWA’s outreach.

    Major Position Functions

    • Execute our annual membership business plan
    • The functions listed are the most time consuming but not all inclusive:
    • Maintains and ensures Blackbaud membership database integrity
    • Implement policies and procedures of how membership data is stored and managed.
    • Execute an aggressive membership renewal program
    • Ensures membership correspondence, membership renewals, and materials are sent in a timely manner.
    • Provides statistical and other pertinent information to leadership.
    • Works with chapter volunteers and fundraising staff to ensure timely and accurate interchange of information.
    • Cross trained to run a full banquet to include tickets, program, auction and P&Ls as a back-up and for double banquets.
    • Assists with Camp Woodie camper parent calls (along with the Fundraising Coordinator) 1-2 weeks prior to arrival and go over Camp Woodie reminders.
    • Update the CED with a parents of interest list for Camp Woodie arrival and departure days as appropriate.
    • Update COO with a list of interest for Duck Hunt Memberships
    • Input data from other departments that would be key for future events & fundraising efforts
    • Must take shooting instructor course

    Reporting Structure

    • Small, casual office located in rural setting.
    • Banquet travel necessary with other staff.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Assist at 30 banquets annually including Sportsman’s Ball Weekend

    Education, Experience, and Position Qualifications

    • Two Year technical schooling in Information Technology or related subjects.
    • Two to three years related work experience.
    • Ability to work well with diversified staff and volunteers at various levels
    • Detail sensitive
    • Some bookkeeping knowledge preferred but not essential
    • Typing ability
    • Good verbal and writing communication skills
    • Ability to lift 30lbs
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products

    Principle Challenges

    Difficulty in receiving accurate and timely membership information from chapter banquets causes poor response to new members. Ability to function smoothly when supplies and funds are not available.

    Tasks

    • Order supplies and membership materials
    • Mail membership materials
    • Data entry
    • Generate membership reports and mail out
    • Assist at banquets as required
    • Maintain off site backup files
    • Resolve membership problems or forward unsolvable situations
    • Update documents on the DropBox that pertain to Membership Services
    • Banquet Tasks: see attached list
    • Help with inventory as necessary

    Starting Salary: $35,000-$40,000 (Based on Experience)

    Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
