Men's Athletics Director directs all facets of a university/college's men's athletic program, including intramural and intercollegiate sports. Manages the entire men's coaching staff. Being a Men's Athletics Director schedules use of facilities, transportation, and sporting events. Also responsible for fundraising, publicity, ticket pricing and distribution, and purchase of new equipment. Additionally, Men's Athletics Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Men's Athletics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Men's Athletics Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     General Summary:

    The Men’s Advocate will work with American Indian men living in the Fond du Lac service area to provide support, crisis intervention, and information in all areas of health, welfare, court system, transportation and housing. The Men’s Advocate will determine service needs and develop service plans through direct service and/or referral.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Provide advocacy, assessment service plan information and assist with implementing plan through direct service and/or referrals for American Indian men in the Fond du Lac service area.
    • Provide crisis intervention and services that include referrals to meet emergency needs for housing, food, clothing or connections to financial assistance programs.
    • Consult and coordinate with appropriate departmental and division staff and community service professionals to develop and provide appropriate and timely services.
    • Maintain a current and relevant list and awareness of laws, regulations and policies pertaining to American Indian adult casework.
    • Advocate for and advise eligible American Indian adults to address immediate needs including parenting, housing, behavioral health, court systems, probation, cultural, family court and other social services.
    • Make referrals to Mediation Specialist for family visitation, mediation, and court related services. Monitor client progress toward established service goals and determine termination/continuation of service.
    • Assist divisional staff with men’s groups and activities.
    • Team with and assist Domestic Abuse Counseling and Education Program (DACEP) group facilitation.
    • Participate in the Adult Protection meetings.
    • Provide family and community education as needed.
    • Be aware of local cultural events, educational, training and employment opportunities.
    • Organize and/or provide transportation for program participants as needed.
    • Provide goal-oriented services to family members to teach skills needed to support client.
    • Worker must utilize skill building in the following areas: advocacy, acquiring basic needs, budgeting, educational pursuits, role modeling, parenting, and health interactions.
    • Be knowledgeable of Fond du Lac and other service providers in the area.
    • Network with other providers and staff from outside agencies.
    • Maintain written client care records according to Social Services Policy.
    • Attend meetings as directed by Social Services Coordinator.
    • Report program activities through the monthly RBC report.
    • Appropriate work attire is required.
    • Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
    • Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
    • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
    • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
    • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
    • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
    • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
    • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Normal physical requirements.

    Position Qualifications:

    • A.A. degree in Human Services or closely related field; two years’ experience in victim advocacy; or a combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work is preferred.
    • Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook is required.
    • Knowledge of community resources and an awareness of cultural values of American Indian clients is important.
    • Experience working with Native American clients, communities and is able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity is preferred.
    • Knowledge of court systems preferred.
    • Experience with group facilitation preferred.
    • Position requires on call availability.
    • Class D Driver’s License required. Must have a reliable vehicle with proof of insurance.
    • Operations consist of shift work; seven days a week and on holidays.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
    • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
    • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
    • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
    • Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
    • Travel is required.
