Also responsible for fundraising, publicity, ticket pricing and distribution, and purchase of new equipment. Additionally, Men's Athletics Director requires a bachelor's degree.     Knox College invites applications for the position of Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. This is a part-time, seasonal, non-benefits eligible position reporting to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach. The anticipated start date is October 1st, 2023. The successful candidate will have a focus on supporting student-athlete success and developing a competitive NCAA Division III program.

    Essential Duties:

    The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in all aspects of the Knox College Men’s Basketball program including but not limited to; executing a successful recruiting and retention plan as assigned; integrating the program into the campus community; scheduling, planning, and supervising practices and contests as assigned; assist with the management of the program’s operating budget; assist with administering all aspects of the programs ensuring compliance with departmental, institutional, Midwest Conference (MWC) and NCAA rules and regulations; alumni and booster engagement; assist with the programs social media activity as assigned; assist with equipment purchasing, distribution and maintenance as needed; attend all required department meetings, complete all administrative assignments, and attend all required functions as designated by the Head Coach, Athletics Department and/or the Director of Athletics; additional coaching and administrative duties as assigned. Must pass the NCAA rules compliance test and comply with all NCAA rules and regulations. Will work with the Director of Athletics and the Athletic Department Administration to ensure that all athletes are academically eligible, medically cleared and properly insured. Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes within the NCAA Division III philosophy. Collegial respect and professionalism are expected and required.

    Education and Experience

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
    • Playing or professional coaching experience at the collegiate level
    • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects
    • An appreciation for a residential liberal arts education and flexibility to adapt to constant change
    • Respect for individual differences, openness to the values and opinions of others, and commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for underrepresented communities


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 1 or more years experience recruiting at the collegiate level
    • Experience with graphic design software ie: photoshop, scoreshots
