Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Men's Athletics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Men's Athletics Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     SUMMARY


    The Associate Director of Athletics will assist the Executive Director of Athletics with formulation and administration of policies pertaining to intercollegiate athletics. This position will represent the Department of Athletics within the district, with the conference, and with national organizations. This role will assist with supervision and evaluation of department staff and be responsible for sport oversight for select sports within the athletic department.


    CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Be responsible for the communication of information to student-athletes necessary for their participation in the competitive sports programs of the district.
    • Assist the Athletic Executive Director in internal budget creation and fiscal responsibility and efficiency.
    • Responsible for all compliance tasks for the athletic department.
    • Assist in professional development and staff enhancement opportunities.
    • Maintain liaison with health services/athletic trainers concerning policies and procedures in handling student athletic physicals and insurance waivers and follow up students with special health problems.
    • Assist in the administration, schedules, organization, and conduct of all games, tournaments, and meets.
    • Be knowledgeable on Title IX policies and guidelines and be responsible for promoting the district’s compliance to these guidelines and policies.
    • Coordinate the use of the district’s fields and sports complexes.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Verifications

    • Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S.
    • Current and valid State of Ohio Pupil Activity Permit required, teaching licensure preferred.
    • Must pass Federal and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation background check in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code Section 3301-83-06


    Knowledge & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college in education, sports administration or related field.
    • Familiarity with Dayton Public Schools’ interscholastic sports programs preferred.
    • Be able to work independently, with others, and multi-task.
    • Be forward-thinking and have effective problem-solving skills.
    • Be able to interact with a large range of personalities and value sets.
    • Have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, students, recruits and other stakeholders.


    PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES/DEMANDS

    • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs
    • Occasionally lift and/or move lightweight items up to 40 lbs.


    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
    • Work may be subject to frequent interruptions
    • Some assignments are subject to completion within strict timelines
    • Periodic travel for meetings, professional development activities, and work assignments
