Associate Director of Athletics for External Relations

  • The Athletics Department at Saint Joseph's College seeks a candidate for the position of Associate Director of Athletics for External Relations. This full-time position will serve as a member of the athletics leadership team. The individual will support the Department of Athletics through overseeing all aspects of athletics communications, supervising athletics communications and event management staff, and overseeing signature departmental events.

    Primary Duties
    • Leads athletics communications team by coordinating, operating and/or supervising staff on statistical tracking programming and livestream broadcasts at home events
    • Serve as primary media contact and liaison with local and national media for athletics related requests. Coordinate the recognition, nomination and promotion of national, regional and conference award candidates for both athletic and academically-based awards
    • Oversee and manage athletics web presence (gomonks.com) and social media platforms
    • Develop, coordinate and promote webcasting to highlight department initiatives and programs, which includes promoting current platforms and developing new strategies to continue to increase followers on both the webcasts and within social media
    • Ensure a consistent image and appropriate brand identity usage as it relates to institutional guidelines and marketing materials
    • Oversee the design, editing, production and distribution of promotional and marketing materials to include but not limited to, press releases, score reporting, social media graphics, promotional banners, and other related information and materials
    • Supervise the management and storage of archival and historical data, photos and other materials through our online file sharing in Google Drive
    • Develop and implement a marketing strategy to strengthen regional and/or national presence with the goal of enhancing and developing recruitment, retention and revenue generation
    • Supervise and mentor graduate assistant position for athletics communications & event management
    • Ensures appropriate staffing and training of student workforce for athletics communications, event management and other departmental events
    • Organize annual selection of Hall of Fame inductees and organization of event
    • Coordinates organizational efforts for Senior Student-Athlete Banquet

    Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, a proven team player with at least 3 years of experience within a college athletics communications office.

    Supervision and Scheduling Demands: Will meet on a regular basis with the AVP/CARO. Evening, nighttime, and weekend hours are expected.

    Equipment: Familiarity with social media platforms, computers including Google platform and Microsoft Office, scoreboards, sound/PA systems, stat-tracking software and webcasting.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

    • Computer competence in word processing, power point, database management, website development, familiarity with StatCrew software, web site software and electronic mail
    • Proven leadership and managerial skills
    • Proven training, coaching and mentoring abilities
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong organization skills and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds
    • Tolerates work related stress effectively and maintains self-control/professionalism
