Mental Health Technician observes and assists assigned mental health patients and helps with daily living activities, therapeutic activities, and socialization. Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment in the psychiatric unit and to ensure the safety of patents and staff. Being a Mental Health Technician attends and participates in group therapy, in-service education, and staff meetings. Records information about patients including vital signs, weight, and demeanor. Additionally, Mental Health Technician may communicate with patients family as needed. Typically requires an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a registered nurse (rn) or other supervisor. The Mental Health Technician works under moderate supervision.   • Position summary:

    To assist clients with everyday tasks associated with the Lighthouse crisis stabilization center to include group activity, daily living, transportation and wellness care. The MHT will work closely with the attending therapist to ensure completion of assigned client homework, and participation in other therapy related activities.

    Tasks:

    • Work with treatment plan and monitor clients in order to detect unusual behavior, and report observations to clinical staff.
    • Organize, participate, supervise, and encourage client participation in social, educational, and recreational activities.
    • Accompany and/or transport clients to and from appointments for medical and dental treatments, shopping trips, and religious and recreational events.
    • Work as part of a team that may include psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, therapists and case managers.
    • Record and maintain records of client condition and activity, eating habits, and behavior.
    • Clean and disinfect rooms and furnishings to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
    • Prepare and serve meals.
    • Monitor client’s medication routines to maintain consistency in medication regimen.
    • Provide coverage as assigned for 24/7 facility, including weekends and holidays.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Experience And Education:

    • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate; No experience required.

    Hours: 3 Shifts per week/8 hour shifts

    Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

    Pay: $14.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 24 per week
