Mental Health Technician observes and assists assigned mental health patients and helps with daily living activities, therapeutic activities, and socialization. Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment in the psychiatric unit and to ensure the safety of patents and staff. Being a Mental Health Technician attends and participates in group therapy, in-service education, and staff meetings. Records information about patients including vital signs, weight, and demeanor. Additionally, Mental Health Technician may communicate with patients family as needed. Typically requires an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a registered nurse (rn) or other supervisor. The Mental Health Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Mental Health Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

    Newaygo County Mental Health is accepting applications for a Behavior Technician to provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) supports to children and adults with Autism. Services are mainly provided at the agency's Autism Center, located in Fremont, Michigan.  Services may also be provided in client's residences or in the community. 

    The Behavior Technician will be trained on individual ABA goal plans, which includes data collection by the Behavior Specialist, who will supervise this position for every 10 hours of direct services provided. This position will work closely with our Behavioral Specialist and will implement programs to clients 18 months up to 21 years of age, teaching communication, self-care and other adaptive skills.

    This is a part time position 0-32 hours per week. High school diploma or equivalent and valid Michigan driver's license are required. Experience working with children or adults with disabilities preferred but not necessary.

    Pay range is $16.00 - $18.00 per hour based on experience.
