Mental Health Technician observes and assists assigned mental health patients and helps with daily living activities, therapeutic activities, and socialization. Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment in the psychiatric unit and to ensure the safety of patents and staff. Being a Mental Health Technician attends and participates in group therapy, in-service education, and staff meetings. Records information about patients including vital signs, weight, and demeanor. Additionally, Mental Health Technician may communicate with patients family as needed. Typically requires an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a registered nurse (rn) or other supervisor. The Mental Health Technician works under moderate supervision. Job Functions and Duties:
1. Provides input on cases.
2. Recognizes client behavioral signs that indicate a potential emergency and takes immediate action by reporting to appropriate staff.
3. Assists clients in preparing for group, social, and recreational activities.
4. Assists clients in activities that address daily living.
5. Performs related duties as needed and appropriate to the provision of partial care services.
6. Interacts professionally and respectfully with clients, families, and staff in performance of daily duties.
7. Performs light household duties.
8. Adheres to GenPsych policies and procedures.
9. Maybe be required to drive clients to and fro the facility
10. Perform other relevant duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in relevant field from an accredited institution
2. Must be proficient with technology.
