POSITION SUMMARY --

The Buyer role is responsible for general and specific tasks related to the purchasing of quality inventory necessary to provide a steady flow for all customer needs, while ensuring efficiency and cost savings when it comes to price negotiations and inventory on hand.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES --

• Tactically manage assigned product groups
• Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders through regular communication
• Process RFQ’s and Purchase orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring that orders are placed in a timely manner to maintain inventory levels and meet customer demand
• Monitor and analyze inventory levels to avoid overstock, and collaborate with the Planning Team regarding replenishment settings and adjustments
• Ensure that purchased products have good quality, reasonable price and delivery time
• Collaborate with Quality to ensure that purchased products meet the required quality standards
• Collaborate with rest of the Supply Chain Teams for identification and resolution of issues and process improvements
• Evaluate suppliers on the basis of price, quality and speed of delivery of their products
• Negotiate price and lead time on items in order to maintain and/or improve company goals
• Maintain and review records of items bought, costs, deliveries, quality, and inventories
• Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and new product developments to make informed purchasing decisions
• Communicate with suppliers regarding open orders, purchase order confirmations, price and quality discrepancies
• All other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS --

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires sitting for long periods of time in front of a computer.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK --

This is a full-time position with days and hours of work from Monday through Friday on an 8:00 am to 5:00 pm schedule. Occasional late evening work may be required as the job demands.

TRAVEL --

Less than 5% of travel can be expected for this position. Occasional training may require travel.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE --

A bachelor’s degree in the related field and one to two years of purchasing and/or related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
