Job Summary:

The Buyer Assistant will assist with the purchasing of materials necessary to maintain distribution and production inventory.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Create new vendors and products in CRM system.
• Issue purchase orders, within prescribed dollar limits, to vendors, in a timely manner, with all necessary information.
• Review and analyze past due purchase orders.
• Contact vendors to expedite materials or resolve delivery issues.
• Contact vendors concerning any discrepancies in pricing, availability, or substitutions.
• Engage in consistent and ongoing vendor communications.
• Collaborate cross functionally with Customer Service, Price List, and other areas, as required to support business and customer requirements.
• Track deliveries and communicate with receiving and production department to ensure smooth and effective reception of incoming product.
• Negotiate favorable terms, discounts, shipping schedule, etc. to improve and provide for profitability of operations.
• Seek new sources of supply, contact, and interact with vendor representatives.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Efficient typing skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and legal aspects of purchasing.
• Ability to compile information and make decisions.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

• At least two years of retail, buying or sales experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or related field preferred.
