Merchandise Buyer Assistant, Sr. assists merchandise buyers in selecting merchandise, placing orders, and distributing inventory. Responsible for inventory replenishment with open-to-buy responsibilities over a segment of the buyer's department. Being a Merchandise Buyer Assistant, Sr. may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, sourcing potential suppliers, constant verbal and written communication with customers/vendors; reviewing contract requirements; preparing/sending RFQs & POs to suppliers; preparing and performing sales quotations through electronic interfaces; meeting contractual deadlines; resolution of discrepancies; and overall evaluation of suppliers. Candidate must be self-motivated, outgoing, organized and possess strong problem solving and analytical skills. Must have at least 1 year experience in purchasing within the marine industry. Also, must have advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (i.e. MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel). Some travel may be required.
