ABOUT THE POSITION

 The Assistant Buyer Golf supports the buyer with day-to-day management of a category to help maximize sales and exceed gross margin targets while maintaining inventory levels. The assistant buyer’s responsibilities include maintaining positive relationships with vendors and other departments within the company, placing and tracking purchase orders, and assisting the buyer in all facets of the business. To be successful, you should be organized, able to multitask, and analytical. This position is the training ground for potential future buyers. This role is currently a partial work from home position with some on-site work required. This position reports directly to the Buyer Golf.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Produce, enter and track purchase orders.
• Follow up with warehouse on receipt of freight and other outstanding issues to ensure proper workflow.
• Follow up with vendors on open orders, out of stock inventory and invoice discrepancies.
• Collaborate with all departments to enhance customer experience.
• Manipulate reports in MS Excel to assist Buyer in purchasing decisions.
• Proof the website and other marketing materials for accuracy and completeness.
• Own specific categories as needed, including selection of new product, reorders, promotional activity and markdowns.
• Manage the electronic data ordering process with vendors in Vendor Net and assist accounting in resolution of invoices.
• Other duties as assigned by leadership.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

• High school diploma or GED required, or equivalent experience.
• Associate degree or higher preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, multi-tasking, follow-up and negotiation skills.
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Previous assistant buying experience is strongly preferred.
• Consumer-direct experience is a plus.
• Golf equipment knowledge is a plus.
