Merchandise Buyer selects merchandise for order, places order, and stays involved in inventory distribution. Reviews success of previous orders to determine extent to which inventory should be replenished. Being a Merchandise Buyer researches new trends or advances in product lines to make appropriate buying decisions. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Merchandise Buyer typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Merchandise Buyer typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Verifies requisitions with MRP to ensure need of orders and inventory levels
Reviews needs for departments and then negotiates and orders appropriatly
Reviews and Compares quotes to ensure best price for company
Issues Requests for Quotes (RFQ) and Purchase Orders (PO)
Follows up on open orders
Manages relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods and compliance of contracts
Works with multiple departments to resolve supply chain issues
Prepare reports as necessary to review inventory and purchasing trends
Researches parts and helps collegues locate and source materials
Quality - Ensures quality by continually watching for any abnormality and reporting it timely
Safety - follows company procedures and uses material and equipment per manufacturers' directions
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Employee must have 3 years of Purchasing experience. SAP and Manufacturing Experience is a plus along with a comprehensive understanding of ERP/MRP and min/max ordering. Additionally, he/she must possess good problem solving skills, basic math skills, along with good interpersonal skills. Working harmoniously with co-workers while exhibiting a "can-do" attitude is critical to success. Employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a somewhat frequent basis. - 5 Days Ago
