Merchandise Buyer selects merchandise for order, places order, and stays involved in inventory distribution. Reviews success of previous orders to determine extent to which inventory should be replenished. Being a Merchandise Buyer researches new trends or advances in product lines to make appropriate buying decisions. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Merchandise Buyer typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Merchandise Buyer typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. We have an opening for a Buyer. This position will be responsible for procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies by performing the following duties:
Essential Functions:
• Reviews requisitions, Production Schedules and MRP Reports.• Interacts with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. • Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. • Prepares purchase orders or bid requests. • Maintains inventory levels required to meet production schedules and financial targets. • Obtains production components from approved sources and builds and maintainsstrong working relationships with suppliers.• Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. • Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchases, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, suppliers, and others to determine source of problem and take corrective action. • Approves invoices for payment. • Expedites delivery of goods to users.

Knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or related field preferred; or five years’ experience in a purchasing role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
