Merchandise Buyer, Sr. jobs in Morgantown, WV

Hi-Vac Corporation is searching for an experienced buyer who can manage the replenishment of specific product categories to ensure there is adequate supply for manufacturing while also meeting or exceeding inventory goals. The buyer is responsible for managing part forecasts for assigned vendors, maintaining timely and accurate purchase orders by following up with vendors to confirm PO’s, managing extra or slow moving inventory through proper inventory management processes supporting manufacturing and sales growth.

Essential Job Duties

• Obtains materials, components, equipment and services in a cost effective and timely manner utilizing ERP system and vendor managed programs
• Send requests for quote to suppliers in support of new and existing customer quoting activities
• Participate in planning and scheduling of work orders for assigned customers; align customer build plans with overall plant capacity available
• Maintains data integrity of ERP system with periodic supplier updates.
• Continuously plan, schedule, and manage materials to optimize inventory total cost and and inventory turns
• Develop and implement programs with customers and suppliers which address lead time, cost reduction and technical improvements
• Manages suppliers for assigned customer team through reporting monthly on time delivery and quality, periodic business reviews with key suppliers
• Optimizes purchasing to increase favorable purchase price variance and makes sourcing decisions using total cost of ownership methods
• Uses knowledge and experience to provide support and guidance to team members and other departments as required
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 3 - 5 years of Purchasing experience in a Manufacturing environment
• Competency in using a Functional ERP System
• Proven ability to manage products from 15 vendors
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft office suite or related software
• Ability to work under pressure in a face-paced environment
• Excellent organizational skills and problem solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
• 5-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 years of ERP, MRP planning experience in a manufacturing environment is also required.
