Merchandise Planner plans and forecasts for future merchandise buys based on historical buys, reoccurring buys and current inventory levels. Responsible for reviewing stock to sales ratios, responding to changing sales trends, and ensuring plan sales, plan markups, and plan markdowns are achieved by departments. Being a Merchandise Planner plans and coordinates merchandise flow-through. Inputs and maintains data in various merchandising systems. Additionally, Merchandise Planner may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Merchandise Planner gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Under general supervision, a Planner for the City of New Port Richey is responsible for a variety of tasks associated with professional level planning work that includes conducting independent studies, completing planning projects, and regulating the growth and development of the City in accordance with the Comprehensive Plan and other statutes, ordinances, and regulations related to land use and community development. The Planner position requires analytical thinking and problem-solving, team-oriented participation, excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, and the ability to provide detailed public presentations. This is a highly visible public contact position that requires exceptional customer service skills and the ability to gain closure on issues. This position will consistently deal with customers and utilize the City’s computerized applications. Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, architecture, public policy, or related field of study and three years of local government planning experience preferred. Master’s degree a plus. The anticipated annual starting salary range for the position is $50,821.51 to $63,526.89 DOQ and experience.
