Merchandise Planner plans and forecasts for future merchandise buys based on historical buys, reoccurring buys and current inventory levels. Responsible for reviewing stock to sales ratios, responding to changing sales trends, and ensuring plan sales, plan markups, and plan markdowns are achieved by departments. Being a Merchandise Planner plans and coordinates merchandise flow-through. Inputs and maintains data in various merchandising systems. Additionally, Merchandise Planner may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Merchandise Planner gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Do you have experience with retail planning and are ready for an expanded role that uses your creative analytical skills to make a difference in the business?

    If so, Jockey is looking for experienced analytical thinkers and Excel fans who want an expanded role working closely with our Women’s buying and merchandising teams to understand retail assortments and to partner with them to deliver growth and continue to appeal to customers!  

    Located onsite at our HQ in Kenosha, WI, the fashion Merchandise Planner drives profitable sales and margin through the creation and execution of sales and demand plans, open-to-buy strategies, flow management, inventory control, promotional and clearance strategies. This position impacts how Jockey appeals to customers from our corporate offices (not an in-store Merchandiser.)

    This role is located at our global headquarters in Kenosha, WI (near Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL).

    In this role you will:

    • Develop and deliver seasonal department and category plans that meet financial targets.
    • Collaborate with merchandising on the development of unique assortments based upon defined store attributes.
    • Run open to buy within managed categories of product identifying opportunities and developing strategies to support financial targets.
    • Assist with store inventory analytics and KPI’s to maximize sales opportunities.
    • Create demand plans, within managed categories, that support financial targets.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 3 years of experience as an assistant buyer or merchandise planner
    • Bachelor's Degree in Merchandising, Fashion, Business or related field
    • Must have experience with retail either from a corporate merchandising, buying or similar. We may consider related experience with background working in a retail store. 
    • Experience with MS Excel and able to carry out data analytics functions, in addition to sorting, charting, and formatting.
    • Change management focus.
    • Ability to explain technical merchandise planning information to internal teams. This is not a role where you will work alone in a cube in the basement, but a position that uses numbers to tell stories and persuade others to take action outside of the merchandise planning team.
