    The Manager of Web Communications and Development drives the web strategy, user experience and development of www.mcla.edu and is a key partner in delivering College messaging across other digital platforms including email, digital signage, and the Campus Portal. The Manager has primary responsibility for executing web development efforts, demonstrates initiative in developing solutions that bridge the creative with the technical, and works in partnership with colleagues in developing solutions for the College's long-range goals for disseminating digital content, both internally and externally. The Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the representation of digital content reflects the mission and brand of the College to an audience of prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community stakeholders.

    This position will work closely with all College faculty and staff to manage the development, content creation, design, organization and structure of high-traffic and strategic Web pages and apps.

    There is an option for 100% remote work with this position.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the President's Chief of Staff.

    SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Student employees/interns as assigned.

    DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Web Content Development and Strategy:
    Collaborates on, plan and execute MCLA's website design, navigation, layout, and user experience including graphics, video, audio, hierarchy and architecture to maintain an attractive, appealing website that suits our community, ensuring that the website is fully functional.
    Works with key College stakeholders to determine priorities for digital content and researches potential users to understand behavior and preferences to implement content strategy, staying abreast of relevant trends and competitors.
    Serves as the primary architect, manager, and advocate of College-wide internal (Portal) and external web and strategy.
    Partners with other members of the College Marketing and Communicaitons team to determine appropriate content, structure and format in order to deliver a compelling and informative experience to all current and prospective members of the MCLA community.
    In partnership with appropriate offices, will map out a content matrix to build strategy for content across audiences.
    Assists with management of various department and program website redesigns to ensure that site audiences can find key content efficiently.
    Creates additional sites and pages for expansion if needed. Create webpages which are in alignment with strategic goals and that align with MCLA's brand.
    Provides subject matter expertise to technical and non-technical staff and campus community.
    Works with key stakeholders to understand business objectives and requirements; communicates plans and progress effectively and regularly to stakeholders.
    Acts as advisor and front-end support for College partners regarding systems that either integrate with or drive users to the website.

    Maintenance and Programming:
    Maintains an inventory of webpages and manages the CMS server software. Monitors performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs), making sure the code is compatible with various browsers, fixes broken links and images, adds new content, and makes necessary product updates.
    In coordination with IT, maintains website's domain name and helps choose server and server software. Provides the community with the safest, most secure server possible.
    In coordination with IT, ensure that the website has sufficient backups and is part of a disaster recovery plan.
    Ensures Website is ADA compliant.
    Codes the site, adding new features and content, editing navigation by using Javascript, CSS or HTML, SQL, logo and artwork, video and sound.
    Helps to integrate web content with other social media tools.

    Analytics and Assessment:
    Regularly monitors/tracks web statistics related to visitor activity, analyzes and interprets a variety of data pertaining to site usage, both internal and external. Researches and assesses technology trends; when possible, integrates new resources into existing digital environments.
    Demonstrates insight from the reporting and communicates an ongoing plan for how the learnings will inform the digital roadmap.
    Produces project scope/briefing documents to share with campus partners and colleagues to ensure tracking of outcomes.
    Presents updates and recommendations to all levels of College leadership.

    Job Requirements:
    Bachelor's degree in relevant field required; as well as at least three to five years related experience in web strategy and content management.
    Understanding of general web system architecture and demonstrated experience managing a website across all functions.
    Must possess strong writing skills in order to help develop content and other communications.
    Ability to provide a high level of customer service to a variety of internal clients and convey technical information to a non-technical audience.
    Ability to confidently navigate the College's content management system (CMS) and teach others.
    Experience managing third party vendor relationships, including but not limited to web developers, hosting providers, systems administrators and analysts.
    Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    Demonstrated skill and enthusiasm for working with people from diverse backgrounds.
    Ability to work with tight and aggressive deadlines, multi-task and work in a team environment.
    Familiar with HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, SQL and popular Content Management systems.
    Demonstrated high level of comfort with social media tools (Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook, Youtube, Wistia, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.) and the ability to embed them within content.
    Familiar with web site debugging techniques.
    Prior knowledge of software programming and graphics.
    Understanding of international web standards and protocols.
    Demonstrated high proficiency in learning and adapting to changing technologies.
