    The Manager, Merchant Analytics will be a leader in the Merchant Analytics Negotiation Support group -one of the 3 strategic pillars of the Enterprise Analytics Team. We are looking for a thought partner who will take a data-driven approach to drive insights and action to achieve our strategic High-Level Objectives ("HLO's"). In this highly visible role, you will collaborate with senior leaders in Enterprise Analytics, Merchandising, Membership, Marketing, as well as the Executive Leadership team.

    The Manager will lead a team of analysts responsible for continuously driving profit improvements and cost mitigation across all Divisions and categories as part of a cross-functional Category Management effort. This team will be charged with providing fact-based and data-driven guidance to Merchandise leaders in selecting vendors, brands, and SKUs that result in increased sales and profit. The Manager will be responsible for providing thought leadership and overall guidance to his/her team, by leveraging a keen understanding of Company categories, vendor dynamics, assortment economics, sourcing strategy and tactics, and negotiation strategy and tactics. Finally, the position will also serve as a thought partner to the Merchandising VP's and SVP's during assortment reviews and during vendor negotiations. This position will also lead the development of annual priorities and category profit improvement targets, working closely with senior Merchandising leadership.

    This role is a high visibility role within the organization with direct influence and exposure to senior leadership through executive reviews with BJ's EVP Enterprise Analytics, Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Merchandising Officer and Merchandising SVPs/GMMs, and CEO.

    Responsibilities
    • Lead and develop high performing Team focused on negotiation support as part of a cross-functional Category Management effort.
    • Drive continuous profit improvements across categories by providing fact-based and data-driven guidance to merchants in selecting products, vendors, and brands that result in increased sales and profit
    • Leverage current and future business requirements, market intelligence, 3rd party data sources, consumer insights, and internal / historical information in conducting category analyses and competitive benchmarking to develop innovative category / vendor strategies that drive product cost reduction, a simplified assortment and supply base, and enables value for both the company and member base
    • Manage processes to ensure that Company is mitigating cost increase / inflation plus building strategy and gameplan for future cost reduction (e. g., commodity trends, deflation)
    • Develop storylines and presentations to effectively communicate findings both internally and externally to vendors and key stakeholders
    • Develop annual targets and the ongoing tracking of savings related to CPI / Cost Mitigation
    • Work closely with key stakeholders to enhance strategies within merchandising by leading cross-functional discussions and collaborating across the organization
    • Team with BJ's internal sourcing team to ensure private label opportunities are identified and effectively executed
    • Perform ad hoc category specific analyses on assortment, vendors, members, and competitors to support decisions and influence management
    • Provide industry and category-specific knowledge and expertise


    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA preferred
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
    • Understanding of retail merchandising, category management, and merchandising processes
    • Strong financial and analytical acumen to make strategic recommendations, with the ability to conduct complex quantitative analysis and build analytical models.
    • Strong background in strategic problem solving with demonstrable analytical skills
    • Creativity with ability to come up with novel ideas to solve our biggest problems
    • Strong communication skills translating complex analyses to non-technical audiences; both verbally and in writing. An open and honest communication style that builds trust and respect.
    • Ability to present and challenge senior management with poise and credibility while developing effective working relationships with Merchandising VPs and SVPs
    • Proactive initiative, seeking out opportunities to learn new skills and put the ones you've already got to good use
    • Experience in managing, developing, and leading others
    • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines
    • A willingness to work fluidly and respectfully with our incredibly talented team

At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $109,000.00.
