    Department: Treasury Management

    Reports to: Treasury Management Sales Manager

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Summary/Purpose:

    As the Merchant Service Sales Representative, you will have a strong Merchant Services background. You will ensure legendary customer service is provided by delivering a consultative sales approach to help business clients assess their payment processing needs and deliver solutions that solve those needs. You will cultivate relationships with business clients to ensure service needs are met to foster long-term retention.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Responsible for the sale of merchant service solutions to new clients and retention of current client relationships to ensure the department continues to grow.
    • Identify and develop Merchant Services sales opportunities through various channels, such as cold calling, networking, and referrals.
    • Meet and exceed objectives and goals in business development, client retention, deposit growth, fee income, cross sell, referrals, client satisfaction and knowledge of merchant services.
    • Understand the customer’s business environments, strategies, and industry to provide the best solution for their situation through a consultative approach.
    • Prepare sales presentations, explain services offered, and recommend services to benefit client needs.
    • Create and maintain a loyal consultant role for customers, prospects, and employees.
    • Support the bank's strong relationship banking culture through on-going customer contact, quality customer service and superior product knowledge.
    • Partner with Treasury Management team when other product opportunities are available to refer.
    • Provide technical and operational support to customers.
    • Identify opportunities to cross-sell other products and services.
    • Collaborate with retail and commercial teams to cross-sell bank's merchant services products.
    • Maintain a high level of awareness and understanding of existing and new payment processing technologies, as well as industry, Bank, and client changes and trends.
    • Perform special projects as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    High School diploma or equivalent. 2 years Merchant Services sales experience required.


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

    • Excellent time management, organization, and negotiation skills.
    • Must be self-motivated with a proactive approach.
    • Must be dependable and work independently.
    • Knowledge of payment processing and technology and awareness of industry trends.

    • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through skills.
    • Technically savvy with a deep understanding of Merchant Services products and services
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) products

    • Have a passion for technology.
    • Strong problem-solving, analytical, research and decision-making abilities are required.
    • Take ownership of errors and find ways to correct them appropriately.

    • Ability to travel to branches within bank footprint or customer locations as needed.
    • Ability to travel to post office and transport sensitive information.
    • Ability to use and facsimile, photocopier, and other general office equipment frequently.
