    Heat Treatment Metallurgical Engineer (On-Site)

    JOB SUMMARY: The heat treatment Metallurgical Engineer is responsible for to manage the metallurgical operation, Heat Treatment processes, provide technical and metallurgical support to all other departments

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: This position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager

    • Provide recommendation of procurement for new heat treatment equipments as well as managing the CAPEX project with vendors, installation of new equipment and onsite training.
    • Research and implement new heat treatment technologies for cost savings and process improvements
    • Monitor heat treatment operations to ensure compliance with internal procedures and customer requirements including internal andsubcontractedprocesses.
    • Investigate complaints of metallurgical and heat treatment nature. Report findings and initiate corrective actions where required.
    • Performs testing and run coupons for hardness and metallurgical testing
    • Leading NADCAP heat treatment and nondestructive audits and applicable compliance.
    • Perform internal audits related to material and heat treatment requirements.
    • Visiting NHBB suppliers to provide recommendations of process improvement on surface treatments issues.
    • Create training and procedures on heat treatment and metallurgical related processes.
    • Participate in the disposition of non-conformance product and Corrective Action processes linked to materials and heat treatment processes
    • Generate and deliver technical presentations
    • Improve key quality metrics of scrap and rework by implementing and supporting lean and continuous improvement activities.

    JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Extensive knowledge on heat treatment processes and equipment.
    • Must have a strong fundamental knowledge of metallurgy and microstructures
    • Interpret metal and surface treatment specifications and map appropriate manufacturing processes
    • Execute and monitor engineering initiatives in compliance with NADCAP to provide continual improvement and conformance
    • Manage Mechanical Testing to ensure customers' requirements are met and testing is carried out in an efficient and controlled manner
    • Experience creating and revising material and process specifications, reports, and test plans
    • Experience with material characterization and failure analysis techniques
    • Capability to act independently as a technical expert and also to lead and mentor small teams when needed
    • Demonstrated ability to solve highly technical problems
    • Ability to execute tasks with minimal oversight
    • Direct experience with the use of spreadsheet and database software to compile, analyze and present data.
    • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (six sigma, lean manufacturing)
    • Able to solve complex problems; makes decisions based on analysis of multiple sources of information.
    • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.
    • Experience/familiarity with chemical and heat treatment NADCAP compliance
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
    • Strong attention to detail

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Bachelors degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, or Material Science & Engineering; or equivalent work experience
    • Minimum 2 years of experience on heat treatment and metallurgical processes
    • Project management experience is a plus
    • Six sigma green or black belt certified is preferred

    PAY RANGE: $74,979K - 100K DOE
