Gas Meter Technician

Grid One Solutions is actively hiring Gas Meter Technicians to perform work within the Eversource EGMA Territory. As a Gas Meter Technician, you’ll perform gas meter Disconnects for Eversource.

Job Type: Full-Time , Non-Exempt

Pay: $24.50 an hour

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform Gas Meter Disconnects and the ability to identify any abnormal operating conditions or hazardous conditions of the gas service. Assume responsibility for the safe operation of a company vehicle, equipment, and tools. Commitment to customer service and responding to the needs of internal and external customers in a professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Computer and smartphone literate.
• Ability to read maps and navigate in congested areas.
• Independently manage time and workload to meet deadlines.
• Mechanically inclined and has experience with a variety of tools.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with little or no supervision.
• This is a minimum 40-hour workweek with Saturdays considered inclement weather make-up days.

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• experience with gas meters a plus.

Pre-Screen:

• Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

• Valid Driver's License Required: Must have a clean Driving Record, free of any major moving violations within the last five years; minimal non-moving violations.
• Must Pass Eversource OQ Qualifications once training has been given.

Physical Requirements:

• RARE (less than 10%): sitting, crawling, climbing poles, climbing ladders
• OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): kneeling, climbing on/off trucks, lifting up to 50 lbs.
• FREQUENT (up to 66%): standing, walking, reading, reaching, stooping, squatting, depth perception, body twisting, color vision, lifting, manual dexterity, seeing distant, balancing, lifting up to 10 lbs., lifting 10 lbs. to 50 lbs.
• CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): seeing, range of motion, sense of touch, carrying, pushing, speaking clearly, pulling, climbing stairs, gripping

Safety

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
