Requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Meter Reader typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Meter Reader may require 0-1 year of general work experience.   • Summary:

    Responsibility for collecting coins from meters in assigned locations / routes.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Include but are not limited to the following, as additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

    1. Collect coins from meters in assigned locations / routes.
    2. Train to use coin collecting equipment.
    3. Utilize great customer service skills.
    4. Be a self - motivated individual who takes pride in their work.
    5. Communicate effectively.
    6. Maintain a professional, neat appearance (Employer provides jacket, polo, and hat).
    7. This is a very physical job. Must be able to carry 50 lbs minimum in and out of van (approx. 60 feet).
    8. Be able to carry up to 50 lbs (short distances) in and out of vehicle.
    9. Be able to walk up to 5 miles a day in all types of weather.
    10. Able to set and adjust pick-up routes as needed.
    11. Work with little supervision.
    12. Operate Company Van safely in downtown traffic. Lots of stop and go while driving to meter locations and during construction zones.
    13. Must maintain a professional appearance and all times.
    14. Maintain office, supply, and vehicle maintenance records.
    15. Key control.
    16. Weigh 50 lbs bags for deposit.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    To successfully perform this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.     Must be at least 18 years of age.

    Education/Experience:
    High school diploma, or General Education Degree (GED), or one to three months related experience or training desirable. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
    Licenses:
    Valid state-issued driver's license and proof of insurance. Must be able to pass a company driving skills test.
    Language Skills:
    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and/or memos in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization in English.
    Mathematical Skills:
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.
    Reasoning Ability:
    Able to apply common sense when performing duties and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
    Physical Demands:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk and/or run. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
    Work Environment:
    Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The work environment noise level is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
    Other:
    Able to transfer/relocate to another facility/location without notice at any time.
