    GENERAL SUMMARY: Traverse several miles (5-7 miles daily) on an assigned route to read residential and commercial electric meters to record consumption; identify electric meter equipment problems; and report meter maintenance and/or abnormalities. (Job description statements are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed assigned to this job title. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Read residential and commercial electric meters within the Client’s coverage area using computerized meter reading equipment on assigned routes, and record readings.
    • Determine consistency of meter readings; report unusual cases to a CCI supervisor or Client’s specialist.
    • Ensure that meters are registering properly; report to the supervisor on meter conditions, defects or suspicious conditions.
    • Maintain the highest standards of customer service while referring customer complaints, concerns, and questions to the Client’s customer service department.
    • Effectively negotiate all obstacles without sustaining injury.
    • Responsibly manage hostile situations, which may include uncooperative customers, contact with domestic and wild animals and continuous exposure to physically demanding and rigorous working environments.

    OTHER REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintain a valid driver’s license, insurance, and registration on a reliable vehicle.
    • Become familiar with reading and navigating maps within the Client’s coverage area.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Must be 18 Years of age with a clean driving record

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School Diploma/GED
    • Prior Military Experience a plus
