    VTG is seeking a Technical Analyst to support our Virginia Beach location to support our Fleet Modernization programs. The Technical Analyst will support our Planning department specifically reviewing the technical drawings associated with upcoming and current projects.


    What will you do?

    We are seeking a skilled Technical Drawing Analyst to join our team. This position requires a mid-level deck plate experience, a solid understanding of how to read technical drawings, and knowledge of technical requirements, such as connectorizing. As a Technical Drawing Analyst, you will play a critical role in assisting with material requirements, reviewing drawings, identifying potential alternate parts, determining material kitting requirements, creating consumables lists, and identifying all drawing data for incorporation within the Management Operating System database.

    • Technical Drawing Interpretation: Utilize your in-depth understanding of technical drawings to accurately interpret and comprehend complex engineering designs. Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure a comprehensive understanding of project specifications.
    • Material Requirements Assistance: Work closely with the procurement department to assist in identifying and specifying the materials needed for projects. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate material acquisition.
    • Reviewing Drawings: Conduct thorough reviews of engineering drawings, identifying potential discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with project requirements. Collaborate with engineering and design teams to resolve any issues and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
    • Identifying Potential Alternate Parts: Employ your expertise to identify and evaluate potential alternative parts for components, considering cost, availability, and compatibility while maintaining the desired performance standards.
    • Material Kitting Requirements: Utilize your keen understanding of project needs to develop comprehensive material kitting plans, ensuring all necessary components are readily available for assembly or installation.
    • Creation of Consumables Lists: Develop and maintain comprehensive lists of consumable materials required for project execution, enabling efficient management and replenishment of essential supplies.
    • Incorporation of Drawing Data: Meticulously record all relevant data from technical drawings and project specifications into the Management Operating System database. Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation for future reference and retrieval.

    Do you have what it takes?

    • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a technical role with a focus on deck plate operations or related field.
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, including electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.
    • Solid understanding of technical requirements, such as connectorizing, material compatibility, and industry standards.
    • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to identify potential issues or discrepancies in technical drawings.
    • Familiarity with material planning, procurement processes, and inventory management principles.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant technical tools.
    • Knowledge of database management systems and data entry.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Security clearance, valid driver's license
    • Some travel required
