    Status: Exempt

    Objective

    The Business Services Origination Manager will lead our commercial services business development team to drive growth through a holistic relationship management approach which provides excellent service and relevant and beneficial solutions for members and potential members. Products will include commercial loans, SBA loans, deposits, treasury management, and other possible ancillary products. This manager will oversee a team of Commercial Business Development Officers (CBDOs). This role must also maintain a solid knowledge and understanding of our current business banking products and systems while training and coaching staff on those items.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership and direction to coach performance to achieve established results in production goals and service standards
    • Manage a commercial business development team, which includes recruiting, training, developing, and coaching. Motivate and lead the team to achieve production goals
    • Ensure department employees are providing responsive and professional service
    • Handle internal member questions, inquiries, and complaints as requested
    • Work with internal stakeholders to manage, monitor, and measure department processes and procedures to maximize efficiency while supporting the credit union's financial goals and the borrower's best interest
    • Develop & implement strategies to improve service and quality of work
    • Develop relationships with industry professionals to grow and maintain a referral network.
    • Coach the team to grow and maintain their own relationships
    • Responsible for the team's product knowledge and continued education
    • Leverage resources to monitor the performance of the team, identify patterns and trends causing issues, and work towards business solutions. Recommend new and more efficient processes to improve turn times and quality of work
    • Act as a liaison between the sales team and the operations team, internal or external
    • Act as a marketing lead for the team and consult on marketing strategies.
    • Support and participate in department and credit union projects and initiatives
    • Communicate with Senior Management on business needs and issues
    • Lead department and team meetings
    • Develops a working knowledge of Credit Union’s systems
    • Conducts performance appraisals
    • Formulates and implements corrective action when appropriate
    • Sets individual goals with staff members to assist them in achieving their full potential; ensures that staff meets stated goals and coaches underperforming staff members to improve performance
    • Recommends promotions, transfers, terminations and/or other changes of status of loan department staff
    • Leads staff meetings on a regular basis and informs personnel of policy and procedure changes. Discusses, directs, and monitors areas needing improvement
    • Promotes culture of personal and professional development and learning for associates
    • Performs other duties as required by Credit Union management
    • Develops an understanding of Credit Union history, philosophy, organization, policies, and operational procedures
    • On a self-directed basis, continues to improve individual level of competency through training and certification on established educational programs
    • Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions:
    • Can get along with coworkers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes
    • Perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading, or speaking with others
    • Respond appropriately to feedback from a supervisor

    Required Qualifications

    • 5 years of experience in business loan and/or product sales
    • 2 years of experience as a sales manager within the financial industry
    • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is preferred
    • Ability to successfully manage and coach a team across remote and in-person settings
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
