Millwright maintains industrial machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand and power tools. Moves, assembles, installs or dismantles machinery. Being a Millwright interprets schematic diagrams, blueprints, and sketches. Analyzes plans for new equipment and maps out space to unpack and assemble new equipment. Additionally, Millwright troubleshoots problems and repairs or replaces worn or broken parts as necessary. May use equipment like forklifts, aerial lifters, and cranes to move heavy or unwieldy machinery. May perform welding, fabrication, or calibration as needed. Follows all work site safety requirements and regulations. Typically requires a high school diploma. May require OSHA Forklift Operator Certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Millwright works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Millwright typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.     About the Position

    W-S Mechanical Group, a subsidiary of W-S Companies, is seeking a Journeyman Millwright who will perform various general manual labor tasks.

    Key Responsibilities

    • This is a 100% travel job
    • Perform routine tasks such as lubrication of machinery, bearing and seal replacements, roll changes, and cleaning of parts during overhauls and preventative maintenance routes
    • Assist with installing, maintaining, upgrading, and fabricating machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings
    • Understanding of and ability to change spherical and tapered roller bearings, power transmission belts, roller chains, couplings, hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, electric motors, gearboxes, and centrifugal pumps
    • Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, pumping, and steam systems, overhead hoists, and cranes

    What does it take to work for W-S Companies?

    • Minimum 1-year millwright experience
    • Must be able to work overtime and weekends, if required
    • Must be 18 years of age
    • Must have acceptable ID, pass a background check, and drug screen
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Possession of a TWIC card is a plus but not necessary
    • Possession of an NCCER certificate is a plus but not necessary
    • Understand verbal and written instructions, basic math, and safety skills
    • Ability to lift, push or pull objects up to 50 Ibs. on occasion
    • May reach above shoulder height and below the waist frequently
    • May stoop, kneel, or bend on occasion
    • Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas
    • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects frequently
    • Will climb and move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas while maintaining balance
    • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions
