Millwright maintains industrial machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand and power tools. Moves, assembles, installs or dismantles machinery. Being a Millwright interprets schematic diagrams, blueprints, and sketches. Analyzes plans for new equipment and maps out space to unpack and assemble new equipment. Additionally, Millwright troubleshoots problems and repairs or replaces worn or broken parts as necessary. May use equipment like forklifts, aerial lifters, and cranes to move heavy or unwieldy machinery. May perform welding, fabrication, or calibration as needed. Follows all work site safety requirements and regulations. Typically requires a high school diploma. May require OSHA Forklift Operator Certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Millwright works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Millwright typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. Summary: Ensures that plant process equipment, maintenance equipment, and rolling stock are kept in safe, reliable, operating condition. Millwrights are expected to repair/replace and install equipment in a safe manner using techniques that ensure the best efficiency and extended life.

Occasionally: climb ladders, ascend/descend stairs or ramps while carrying tools. Bend forward at waist, crouch, push, pull, twist, drive, handle, reach above the shoulders, reach below shoulders, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Frequently: sit, stand, walk, speak and hear clearly, work with others, use keyboard/calculator, and lift up to 30 pounds.
