We are seeking to fill numerous positions at Big Thunder Gold Mine!

Discovered by two German immigrant miners in 1892, Big Thunder Gold Mine is an ode to the rich mining history of the beautiful Black Hills region. Still standing in near perfect condition today, Big Thunder Gold Mine offers visitors of all ages and abilities an opportunity to explore our mine alongside trained tour guides who are well-versed on the unique history of the mine, the Black Hills Gold Rush, and so much more. As the safest and most maintained mine in the Keystone, SD mining district, Big Thunder Gold Mine still contains many indigenous rocks, structures, and minerals today.

We are looking for Tour Guides, Panners, Claim Guides, Gift Shop Keepers, Servers, Dish washers, Prep Cooks, and a Grill Cook to join our team!

As a Tour Guide or Claim Guide, you will be responsible for providing informative and engaging tours to visitors, showcasing the unique features and history of our location. If you have a passion for storytelling, enjoy working with people, and have excellent communication skills, we would love to hear from you!

Panners and Claim Guides, are essential for teaching our guests to find gold for themselves, and giving them the experience of a lifetime!

Gift Shop Keepers are the glue that holds the business together! They help us set up tours, answer questions for our guests, and assist customers with souvenirs while waiting to go on their tours.

Do you like making people smile and giving tourists possibly a once in a life time experience? You might really enjoy being a server at Big Thunder Bar and Grill then! Where we serve wild game such as Bison, Elk, and even Rattlesnake!

Responsibilities:

Tour Guide, Panner and Claim Guides
- Conduct guided tours of our facility, ensuring an enjoyable and educational experience for visitors
- Provide historical and cultural information about the location, highlighting key points of interest
- Engage with visitors, answering questions and providing additional information as needed
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor throughout the tour
- Ensure the safety of tour participants by adhering to all safety guidelines and protocols
- Manage time effectively to ensure that tours run smoothly and stay on schedule
-Teaching guests to pan and find gold

Skills:
- Excellent time management skills to keep tours on schedule
- Strong customer service skills to provide a positive experience for visitors
- Proficient in public speaking to engage and captivate tour participants
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, adapting style to suit different audiences
- A passion for education and the ability to convey information in an engaging manner
- Leadership qualities to guide groups effectively

Claim Guides are required to be physically fit and able to lift 60 pounds.

Knowledge of Gold Panning is also preferred, but we are happy to teach employees who are willing to learn.

Gift Shop Keepers

Responsibilities:

- Helping guests set up tours and answering the phone.
- Cleaning, maintaining, and restocking the shop.
- Engage with visitors, answering questions and providing additional information as needed.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor.
- Manage time effectively to ensure that tours run smoothly and stay on schedule

Skills:
- Excellent time management to help keep tours on schedule
- Strong customer service skills to provide a positive experience for visitors
- Cashiering
- Ability to stay calm and collected during rushes
- Good Multitasker
- Inventory and restocking

Responsibilities:

Servers
- Keeping the front of house looking attractive and clean.
- Serving, bussing, and bar tending.
- Engage with visitors, answering questions and providing additional information as needed.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor throughout the shift.
- Giving guests wonderful memories and new experiences.

Skills:

- Cashiering
- Cleanliness and maintaining
- Serving drinks and Food
- Communication Skills

Responsibilities:

Dish Washers, Prep Cooks, and Grill Cook
- Keeping the back of house clean and maintained.
- Food Prepping
- making orders in a timely manner
Grill Cook is required to have past experience and a willing attitude to learn new skills.
