Monitor Technician examines heartbeat patterns on electrocardiograph monitors. Makes note of irregular rhythms and monitors changes in heartbeat. Being a Monitor Technician provides notes to medical staff in charge of the patient. Ensures that monitors are functioning properly. Additionally, Monitor Technician may require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Monitor Technician works under moderate supervision. Job Responsibilities Include:
This position facilitates positive patient outcomes by providing clinical support to the Physicians and Device Specialists, and by performing technically correct holter and long-term monitor placement. The Monitor Technician assists the Physicians and clinical staff to plan, assess, educate, implement and evaluate the device care of Cardiovascular Medicine patients.
Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician education and previous cardiac holter monitor or telemetry experience is preferred. Previous medical office experience is a plus! Completion of High School Education or GED is required.
