  • Department/Unit: Cardio-Respiratory Services Work Shift: Evening (United States of America) Salary Range: $18.00 - $21.60 ALBANY MEDICAL CENTER JOB DESCRIPTION - Monitor Technician I POSITION SUMMARY: The Monitor Technician I have the responsibilities of: 1) recording electrocardiograms (EKGs) of customers ranging in age from newborn to geriatric; 2) downloading EKGs from cart to MUSE EKG Computer System; 3) delivering cardiac rhythm strips from the telemetry station to the various nursing units and posting these strips in specified unit locations 4) performing miscellaneous duties related to cardiac monitoring including but not limited to troubleshooting telemetry transmitter packs (i.e., replacing worn electrodes, changing batteries, changing wires, etc.); 5) assisting in the search and retrieval of misplaced telemetry transmitter packs and cardiac pacemakers; and 6) educating various disciplines in EKG technique. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as outlined in the attached annual competency assessment. EDUCATION: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. The person must hold current Heart Saver (CPR) certification. EXPERIENCE: Some patient contact is preferred. Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively to clients and others in English, including children. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: No special mathematical skills required. PROFESSIONAL SKILLS: Ability and to perform the job in adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct as defined by AMC, including but not limited to Confidentiality/Privacy Standards (HIPAA). The individual is accountable for own performance. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
