Job Summary: Serve as the District Tax Collector and provide backup to the Payroll Specialist and Accounts Receivable positions.

Position Information:

• Full-time, with benefits
• 261 work days per year
• Minimum Starting Salary $20.13/hour, salary is determined based on experience
• $750 sign-on bonus

Position Information:

• Collect and process all Real Estate taxes and related items for the district. Work with outside vendor to arrange for collection of taxes through a lockbox service, and capture data from the provider for entry into the tax system.
• Complete Tax Certification requests and collect and deposit appropriate fees. Maintain communications with taxpayers, mortgage and settlement companies, banks, county offices, borough and township offices, school district personnel, and other tax collectors.
• Handle all electronic processing functions for taxes and develop/maintain reports from the system to meet district needs.
• Reconcile tax receipts and data from the tax data system to accounting system on a monthly basis and prepare annual reconciliation documents for audit purposes.
• Prepare reports of delinquent taxpayers for the Lancaster County Tax Claim Bureau and meet delinquent tax turnover deadlines annually. Prepare, process, and collect Interim Tax bills and provide tax information to support annual budget processes.
• Serve as backup to the Payroll Specialist to include biweekly processing of payroll.
• Serve as backup for district Accounts Receivable function to include receiving and preparing deposits for all incoming school district monies and entering data on receipts and deposits into CSIU accounting software.
• Establish/maintain Standard Operating Procedures for all duties.
• Stay up to date with knowledge of board policy, real estate tax laws and assessments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Three (3) years of experience in billing, tax collections or bookkeeping.
• Associate degree in Accounting and/or prior experience with billing software preferred.
• Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the PA School Code)
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
