NJ Child Assessor - Data Collector
Seeking Data Collectors/Child Assessors:The National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) at Rutgers University is seeking Data Collectors/Child Assessors to conduct child assessments on Infant and Toddler aged-children to study early childhood education in New Jersey state-wide (Newark, Morristown, Passaic, Dover, Union City, Atlantic City, New Brunswick, Mount Holly, Salem, Asbury Park, Camden, Trenton, Vineland, Penns Grove, Stirling, Willingboro, Burlington, and Hackettstown).
Applicants preferred:- Graduate students, applicants with a BA/BS, or current upperclassman undergraduate students focusing on child development, early childhood, psychology, or a related field, withholding an excellent academic record (GPA of 3.0 or better). In addition, knowledge about child development and developmentally appropriate early childhood teaching practices is preferred (e.g., Teacher, Child Assessor, etc.). Experience in classroom settings and/or working with children aged 0-5 is highly preferred.
- Applicants must be available to work a minimum of 3 days per week (Mon-Fri) between September 2023 to November 2023 during regular school hours (8 AM - 3:00 PM) and be consistent throughout the data collection period
- Target hiring areas: New Jersey (you may travel up to a 1.5-hour distance from home)
- Schedules are flexible though applicants must be available to attend intensive 3-day training (paid) in person on Aug 28-Aug 31 9-5 pm, New Brunswick, NJ
- Attendance to each training day, for its entirety, is necessary to be considered.
- Data Collectors will be selected to be a part of either an Infant/Toddler or Pre-K child assessment team. Pay varies per team ranging from $35-$60 per child completed. Team selection will depend on experience and research study protocols.
- All Data Collectors must have reliable transportation; a valid driver’s license; and will be required to follow all project and state health regulations regarding COVID-19, including being fully vaccinated and boostered to be employed as a Rutgers University part-time employee.
