Mortgage Credit Analyst assesses the risk and creditworthiness of loan applicants and recommends loan approval, terms, or application denial. Gathers necessary credit, income, and tax information to conduct financial assessments. Being a Mortgage Credit Analyst reviews and verifies property appraisals, collateral value, and key indicators such as debt-to-income and loan-to-value ratios. Prepares a detailed credit analysis and summary using underwriting guidelines, risk assessment frameworks, and following applicable regulatory compliance. Additionally, Mortgage Credit Analyst may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Mortgage Credit Analyst work is closely managed. Responsible for performing mortgage loan origination services including assisting members with questions, asks probing questions to determine applicant’s mortgage needs, offers appropriate mortgage loan options, completion of initial mortgage loan application, performs initial pre-qualification review of application, and solicitation of mortgage loans. Compiles completed mortgage loan application, other initial loan documentation, and provides detailed mortgage notes in system needed for the Mortgage Loan Processors (MLP). Sources new mortgage business through developing strong business relationships with realtors and other sources of business. Tracks loan status and keeps members, realtors or sellers, and management appropriately informed. Completes routine reports and records.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Management, or Marketing or a combination of education and work experience.
All FLFCU employees who act as an MLO are required to register with the NMLS or be registered on behalf of FLFCU, obtain a unique identifier, and maintain their registration current in accordance with the SAFE Act and FLFCU Policy. Registration must be attained within thirty (30) days of hire and maintained annually thereafter.
FLFCU Annual MLO Recertification is required. Must possess a valid driver’s licenses and the ability to pass periodic background checks needed to conduct mortgage transactions.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Thorough understanding of conventional mortgage products, including ARMs, VA, and Texas Vet, FHA and other specialized program loans offered by the credit union.
Knowledge of related requirements, procedures, and underwriting criteria.
Basic understanding of accounting.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum two (2) years of mortgage loan origination or real estate sales experience
