Overview
Perform accurate and efficient detailed analysis of the most complex commercial credits. Accountable for the consistent application of credit policy, credit quality, and management of the Credit Administration workflow (pipeline). The Credit Manager will provide exceptional credit support to the Commercial Lending team and may lead a team of assigned Credit Analysts. The Credit Manager will have Credit Approval authority as granted by Penn Community Bank Lending Policy.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions

- Manage assigned team of Credit Analyst to support credit requests in conformity with the bank’s policies and service level agreements, and to ensure the highest level of service.
- Ongoing development and training of Credit Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts, including the onboarding and training of new Bank employees
- Review work of others to ensure relevant, concise and accurate analysis.
- Organize and lead regular team meetings with analysts, lenders and loan administrators.
- Manage and assign departmental workflows to ensure the timely and accurate processing of new loan requests, reviews, renewals, and other underwriting requests.
- Work with Credit Officer and CCO to ensure consistent and accurate credit analysis, including:
- Prepare financial statement spreads and perform comprehensive analysis of repayment sources
- Evaluate individual personal financial statements, tax returns, and prepare global cash flows
- Verify compliance with credit policy, applicable regulations and lending procedures
- Conduct industry and market analysis to identify risks and risk mitigating factors
- Prepare and review analyses of complex loan requests and conduct a final assessment of the financial analyses and presentations before review and approval.
- Work with lenders to meet Service Level Agreements and respond to customer requests.
- Special projects as assigned, including working with CCO and providing support to the Special Assets Group in managing the workout portfolio to help ensure maximum recovery in workout situations.
- When appropriate, recommend actions such as approval, structural change, or decline.
- Credit Approval Authority as may be granted by Lending Policy
Compliance
- Comply with all applicable regulations and Bank policies regarding employment and employment law.
- Participate in annual compliance and other job-related training.
- Comply with applicable bank regulations, Bank policies and procedures.
- Comply with Bank’s internal privacy and ethics standards.
Relationships and Contacts
Internal: Daily contact with credit analysts, commercial lenders, CCO, CLO and loan administrative assistants; Frequent contact with special assets group as assigned.
External: Frequent contact with borrowers, accountants and loan review.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field required
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in credit analysis, lending, portfolio management, risk review, or credit management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience training/mentoring other credit analysts preferred
Skills and Competencies
- Extensive experience in analyzing complex financial statements and tax returns.
- Comprehensive knowledge of commercial banking, regulations, loan structure, and risk mitigation.
- Extensive knowledge of collateral valuation methods and other repayment sources
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of credit-related laws and best practices
- In-depth knowledge of the Bank’s credit policy, products and services
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and an ability to quickly master bank’s technology and systems.
- Good time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
- Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure in order to meet job requirements and deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing
- Ability to supervise and manage Team Members effectively
