Mortgage Credit Manager manages a group of mortgage credit supervisors and monitors application procedures to ensure assignments meet established processes/standards. Oversees analysis of current, new and renewed residential loans. Being a Mortgage Credit Manager provides recommendations for improvement to top management. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Mortgage Credit Manager typically reports to head of a unit/department. The Mortgage Credit Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Mortgage Credit Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct loan interviews, discuss programs, explain processes, and request supporting documentation for loan approval.
- Evaluate credit and financial status of prospective borrowers to make sales of residential mortgage loans.
- Cross sell Credit Union products and services.
- Make outgoing calls to sell our products and services.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all credit union mortgage products including purchase money 1st mortgages, 1st mortgage refinances, 2nd mortgages, HELOCs, bridge loans, construction loans, and VA/USDA/FHA loans.
- Understand and apply all federal rules and regulations associated with mortgage lending.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with realtors.
- Attend purchase loan closings.
- Assist in fielding member calls associated with mortgage lending.
- Develop a working knowledge of the Credit Union's data processing system, loan origination system, Word, and Excel software.
- Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures and underwriting guidelines.
- Any other duties assigned by supervisor or management.
