Mortgage Loan Area Manager directs mortgage loan activity and oversees multiple teams for a defined area. Analyzes mortgage data and trends to develop a lending strategy and establish targets for loan production. Being a Mortgage Loan Area Manager develops a productive staff with training and coaching. Monitors compliance with federal and state lending regulations. Additionally, Mortgage Loan Area Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Mortgage Loan Area Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Mortgage Loan Area Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • General Summary

    Serve the credit union membership by providing and promoting prudent borrowing activities within the mortgage lending area. Assist in serving our membership by promoting and selling all credit union borrowing and savings products/services. 

    Essential Functions

    1. Identify, develop and maintain outside contacts with realtors, builders, home improvement dealers, financial institutions, professional organizations/groups and others to develop business and the sale of mortgage loan/ other products and services of the credit union.

          2. Provide financial counseling on our mortgage loan products and follow through with scheduling, interviews, applications and                      closings on these products with potential new/current homeowners.

           3. Provide processing and underwriting skills that conform to the secondary mortgage market; credit and loan guidelines as set forth              by the credit union and secondary market underwriting for loans.

           4. Gathering the necessary documents for timely and accurate loan processing

           5. Promote credit union membership and develop/maintain the knowledge/ability to cross sell “all” credit union products/services to                 provide financial needs for new/current members. 

            6. Maintain expertise in the mortgage lending area regarding compliance, regulations, product development/implementation, pricing,              funding, portfolio quality and auditing guidelines.

            7. Maintain a working knowledge of credit union’s data processing systems.

            8. Develop an understanding of credit union history, philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures.

             9. Conduct oneself in a positive professional manner in relationship to all credit union activities.

    1. Actively support our “sales and service “culture and demonstrate these skills by communicating to members the benefits and features of all our products and services.

    2. Expect and embrace change by being flexible and adaptable. Meet performance objectives and expectations (i.e. Sales, Quality Service and Reliability)

    3. Develop a working knowledge of competitors’ products and services with a continued interest in improving quality services and                  products for the credit union.

    4. Complete in-house training based on required classes set up for this position. Continue education in other 2nd market mortgage loan           products to better meet the needs of potential members.     

    5. Assist in any area as directed by management. 

    Job Specifications

    1. Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for promotion and selling credit union products and services and servicing        credit union members and projecting a positive attitude/image as a representative in relationship to all credit union activities.

    2. Work requires knowledge of mortgage lending regulations tied into FHA, VA, Conventional, NIFA and the continuing changes to                  system and other underwriting guidelines. 

    3. Requires a high degree of accuracy with intermediate mathematical skills required (calculations and concepts involving decimals,              percentages, fractions, etc.)

    4. Exercise of discretion and independent judgment is required. Analyzes complicated factual situations, applies functional principles and develops solutions. Involves a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists. Involves work governed by broad instructions and usually involves frequently changing conditions and problems.

    5. Customarily engaged and performing work away from credit union’s offices and places of business; majority of time will be spent away      from office promoting and selling credit union products and services and consummating transactions involving such products and              services.
