Position Overview:
The selected candidate will take on a crucial role at Phoenix Water and Wastewater, overseeing and managing the entire sampling and analysis compliance program. This includes direct management of relationships with external certified laboratories, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of environmental monitoring related to water quality. The role demands a dynamic, self-starting individual ready to assume full responsibility for environmental compliance and laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate all external laboratory services involved in water analysis.
- Maintain meticulous records and ensure the digital storage of all laboratory data for compliance purposes and timely submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP).
- Regularly validate all sampling sites to guarantee their compliance with regulatory requirements and their effectiveness in environmental monitoring.
- Manage comprehensive state reporting responsibilities, including Chapter 110 annual water usage reports, monthly DWELR submissions, and the upkeep of monitoring plans for each treatment facility.
- Take initiative in responding to and resolving water quality complaints from the community.
- Continually assess and recommend improvements to the water treatment processes and environmental monitoring strategies to enhance compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain the in-house laboratory's operations, ensuring equipment is properly calibrated and that a sufficient inventory of laboratory supplies and chemicals is kept.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to perform precise analytical tasks, manage data accurately, and maintain comprehensive records and reports.
- Proficient with various computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, SCADA systems, and preferably some experience with relational databases.
Experience and Certifications:
- At least one years of experience in environmental sampling, handling, and compliance documentation, including experience with Chain of Custody forms.
- Candidates are required to obtain PADEP Water Operator certification in specified subclasses within one years of hire, with a preference for those already certified.
- Must possess a valid, active state driver’s license.
