Motion Picture Projectionist sets-up, operates, and maintains media equipment including video, film, slides, audio, motion pictures, slide projectors, and computer equipment. May require an associate's degree or its equivalent. Being a Motion Picture Projectionist may be required to be certified in an area of specialty. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Motion Picture Projectionist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.     OVERVIEW AND IMPACT
    The Festival Projectionist is responsible for operating motion picture projection equipment, aligning with industry standards and ensuring an excellent cinematic experience for SIFF patrons.

    May 6th - May 19th, 2024

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

    • Reports to Associate Director of Cinema Technology

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Operates digital cinema and related exhibition peripherals, including DCP servers, Blu-rays, and other alternate sources.
    • Inspects DCPs and Digital files for quality playback.
    • Ingests content as needed, as well as KDM’s as they arrive.
    • Alerts Technical Manager of any issues that may affect proper playback of content.
    • Confirms that all content needed for cinema events/screenings is in-house.
    • Builds playlists for cinema events/screenings that include correct sponsor ads, trailers and feature.
    • Sets up, breaks down, and monitors auditorium equipment, such as microphones, PAs, and mixers.
    • Routinely checks picture, sound and overall presentation quality of each screening.
    • Maintains strong and regular communication with Technical Manager and Venue Managers.
    • Performs regular upkeep in projection area(s) to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2 years of cinema projection experience is required
    • Previous film festival experience is preferred
    • Familiarity with G-Suite is a plus
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule consisting of nights, weekends, and holidays.

    Work Environment: This position will work onsite at specified theater/s.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patrons and coworkers, sit and stand for extended periods, and lift up to 40 pounds.
