    Job Summary

    Supports the Museum’s Mission of enriching lives through the visual arts by creating and administering a suite of public programming and activities that engage and inspire audiences of varying interests, experiences, and learning styles.

     

    Major Responsibilities

    ·         Collaborate with the curatorial division on exhibition planning, collection management, and program development.

    ·         Contribute to presenting co-produced exhibitions and creating new exhibitions to engage diverse audiences.

    ·         Coordinate with Education, Development, and Marketing teams for exhibition promotion and funding of permanent collection objects, installations, and exhibitions.

    ·         Serve to expand the Museum’s audiences through outreach, education, and community partnerships

    ·         Supervise curatorial interns

    ·         Additional duties as assigned

    Exhibitions

    ·         Plan, develop, and schedule permanent collection exhibitions in consultation with relevant stakeholders.

    ·         Develop exhibit themes and objectives with curatorial team

    ·         Propose original exhibition ideas and collaborate with various teams for presentation of permanent collection exhibitions.

    ·         Creates and manages interpretative content, including labels and gallery guides, for assigned exhibitions.

    ·         Coordinate with design and curatorial teams to produce exhibition layouts.

    ·         Conduct research, respond to press inquiries, and facilitate exhibitions as assigned.

    Collections

    ·         Curate and oversee the reinstallation of select permanent collection galleries.

    ·         Conduct research projects, including provenance research, to enhance collection knowledge.

    ·         Provide recommendations for acquisitions and deaccessions.

    ·         Revise and maintain the Collections Plan in consultation with relevant stakeholders.

     

    Curatorial

    ·         Cultivate new and existing donors to the Museum

    ·         Assist curators in developing agendas, coordinating meeting packets and recording minutes for the Collections, Exhibitions, and Film Committee.

    ·         Presents at quarterly meetings of the Collections, Exhibitions, and Film Committee.

    ·         Implement accessibility initiatives for exhibitions and galleries.

    ·         Attend divisional meetings and represent the Museum at art events.

    Education

    ·         Collaborate with curatorial and education staff to develop related programs and tours

    ·         Recommend interpretive themes and assist with tours, lectures, and docent corps.

    ·         Collaborates with education team to create and present new initiatives in art education.

    Marketing and Development

    ·         Assist in preparing permanent collections sections for the Annual Report.

    ·         Provide visual and written content for promotional materials.

    ·         Support Museum Store in developing collection-related merchandise.

    ·         Review publications and promotional materials.

    ·         Assists with grant applications.

    Qualifications

    ·         Master’s degree in Art History or related field.

    ·         2-3 years minimum of related experience in similar position within museum or art organization.

    ·         Proficiency in research and writing for publication and presentation.

    ·         Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.

    ·         Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

    ·         Computer proficiency, attention to detail, and impeccable organizational skills.

    ·         Familiarity with trends in museum field and DEAI initiatives.

    Physical Demands

    ·         Occasional standing, walking, lifting, and reaching.

    ·         Vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment

    ·         Exposure to moderate noise levels and weather conditions.
