Museum Research Worker jobs in Lubbock, TX

Museum Research Worker plans, organizes and conducts research in scientific, cultural, historical, or artistic fields for use in projects of sponsoring institution. May require a bachelor's degree in a related area and 2-4 years of experience. Being a Museum Research Worker is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, Museum Research Worker performs a variety of complicated tasks. Typically reports to the head of a unit/department. Museum Store Assistant
  • Permian Basin Petroleum Museum
  • Midland, TX PART_TIME
  • Summary:
    Assist the Museum Store Manager in stocking, pricing, and storing inventory. Greet visitors and process sales on the cash register. Effectively close out the register daily.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Label inventory for sale
    • Re-stock store as needed
    • Regular up-keep and maintenance of store
    • Assist with management of store inventory
    • Assist other Museum departments, as needed
    • Answer the phone and direct callers
    • Greet visitors and process admissions
    • Assist shoppers through product knowledge
    • Effectively close out the register
    • Assist with reports
    • Assist with processing and shipping of online orders

    Skills and Abilities Required:

    • Knowledge of computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel
    • Ability to work well with others
    • Ability to interact with visitors and make them feel welcome
    • Ability to run a cash register and transact sales, both in cash and credit
    • Ability to follow specific procedures as taught by supervisor
    • Understanding and promotion of the Museum's mission, goals, and objectives

    Working Conditions and Physical Effort Required:

    • Work may involve hours outside standard business hours
    • Work is a combination of an office environment and retail environment
    • Physical effort is required on a regular basis, including but not limited to, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bending, and kneeling

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
