    • At the GS-06 level you will perform developmental duties, as assigned.
    • At the GS-7 (Full Performance Leve) you will perform the duties listed below under the direction of the Deputy Director
    • You will assist with the management and coordination of the day-to-day activities of the volunteer program and special events program
    • You will assist with volunteer management tracking systems and their related records.
    • You will administer assignments, assigns volunteers to museum projects, and recruit and train volunteers.
    • You will aid with an effective program of incentive awards and recognition to promote the retention of volunteers and to ensure sufficient volunteer staff is available to assist in mission accomplishment.
    • You will assist with the organization and execution of routine museum education, public programs, special events, and volunteer events at the museum.
    • You will research, design, develop, and implement routine educational programs geared to NMAS’ core audiences – active duty military personnel, public visitors, schoolchildren, advanced students, civic groups, and volunteer staff.
    • You will assist with the identification of three-dimensional artifacts in the museum’s collection to use as educational tools in museum exhibits and educational activities.
    • You will assist with the development of related in-gallery hands-on educational and interpretive activities that accompany the exhibition.

    • As the museum is located in a historic building eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, there is no elevator

    Qualifications

    To qualify for the GS-07 Level your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-06 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector using up-to-date knowledge of American Alliance of Museums and museum education methodology and standards to perform or assist senior personnel performing the following:
    1) Teaching or performing public speaking.
    2) Extracting essential concepts from diverse material and of expressing these ideas in a clear written format.
    3) Conducting educational programming in a museum setting.
    4) Managing volunteers, interns, and docents to ensure maximum effectiveness of their resources as they relate to the appropriate programs.
    5) Planning and/or implementing educational programs based on the interpretation of three-dimensional artifacts
    6) Planning and/or presenting instructional materials to varied audiences using multi-media materials and computers.
    7) Working collaboratively on a team.

    You may also qualify for the GS-7 level using education to substitute for specialized experience. See the "Education" section of this announcement for details.
