Job Summary

The nature of the work is performing Tier 1 level responsibilities per the direction of the IS Manager. Provide
technical support in conjunction with STA computer systems, networks and related hardware and software. The primary
role of the network technician is to assist the network and/or system administrator(s) in troubleshooting, analysis,
maintenance, and planning of the IS infrastructure at STA. Physically installs network switches, servers, wireless access
points and other devices. Position will require travel to and from our outlying facilities. Work requires independent
judgment within the assigned work area. Work involves working closely with users at all levels within STA and with
vendors, consultants and users outside STA.

• Experience working on an enterprise level network for a public agency
• Experience with Cisco products
• Ability to communicate complex issues to customers
• Strong TCP/IP and wireless skills
• Experience with active directory

Examples of Duties

• Provide tier one support of network devices such as replacing faulty cables, power supplies, failed Hard-Drives and

other components.

• Assist in troubleshooting analysis, planning, and maintenance of the IS infrastructure at STA.
• Provide help desk support on rotating on call basis.
• Physically install network switches, servers, wireless access points and other devices.
• Patch network cables to switches and maintain cabling in network cabinets.

Education and Experience

One to two years of experience network support at Tier 1 level. An associate’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity,
or network security from an accredited college may substitute. Basic understanding of LAN/WAN networks and related
protocols. Outstanding diagnostic, problem solving & analytical skills. Either Network or Cisco CCT Routing and Switching
certifications are preferred.
