Network Control Center Manager manages the daily activities of a network service function to ensure efficient, reliable, and secure operations that meet users' needs. Hunger Network, a non-profit organization which envisions that no one goes hungry and no food goes to waste seeks a full-time Hunger Center Program Director. Hunger Network is the largest grassroots food relief and recovery organization in Cuyahoga County that focuses on minimizing food waste and fighting food inequity and injustice by maximizing our community’s access to culturally relevant, nutritious foods.
Our programming includes coordination of a consortium of 70 hunger centers that are strategically placed across the county which provide food supplies, hygiene items, and hot meals to our neighbors who need it most. Additionally, we bridge the gap between hunger and food waste through the innovative Food Rescue Hero app, which operates via a direct transfer model to assure fresh food is delivered daily into our local neighborhoods.
The Hunger Centers Program Director leads our food relief efforts for all Cuyahoga County pantry and hot meal sites, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the equitable distribution of funding and food resources throughout our service area, and empowers partners with educational and training opportunities on operational best practices.
The ideal candidate has an in-depth knowledge of local charitable food systems, experience in grassroots organizing with diverse people and communities, and a demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including community leaders and government officials. This individual must be an organized multitasker who is able to work independently and provide innovative ideas and solutions. This position reports directly to the Chief Programs Officer and supervises the MidTown Market Manager.
General Responsibilities
· Ensure innovative growth, strategy and scalability of Hunger Center programs by working with their managers, personnel and volunteers.
· Conduct recruitment outreach, retention, and engagement of pantries and hot meal sites to ensure racial equity and justice throughout service area.
· Maintain strong knowledge of all program regulations and guidelines as well as performance standards established by the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
· Monitor operations of all hunger centers and ensure program and funding compliance.
· Analyze program performance data to isolate trends; identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and programs; and report on progress toward goals.
· Supervise the MidTown Market Manager.
· Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the annual budget, controlling expenditures within the budget, and maintain financial records in accordance with standards and office guidelines.
· Provide applicable data for annual audit.
· Explore revenue generating opportunities and key partnerships, when applicable.
· Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications Manager to plan and execute engagement initiatives for all stakeholders, including the use of social media.
· Represent the organization in community collaborations/task forces related to health, hunger, and nutrition to gather and share information, as needed.
· Assist with major special events, annual campaign, and other internal meetings as needed.
Leadership
· Serve as the organizational liaison with United Way Services of Greater Cleveland and Greater Cleveland Food Bank on Cuyahoga County funding and procurement contracts.
· Serve as the organizational liaison on the Cuyahoga County Emergency Food and Shelter Program Board operated by United Way Services of Greater Cleveland.
· Serve as the team liaison for the Hunger Center Program on the Programs Committee.
Network Operations and Compliance
· Maintain consistent, professional contact with all hunger center managers to ensure the equitable distribution of funding and food resources to create neighborhoods in which everyone has access to fresh, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food.
· Review and update hunger center and hot meal site operations manuals, on an annual basis or as needed.
· Assure program compliance with all active funding and grant sources. Assist Finance and Development Departments with all reporting needs.
· Ensure that all hunger center sites have fully executed participation agreements that are reviewed/renewed annually, or as necessary.
· Validate all hunger center sites annually renew their Universal Entity Identifier (UEI) numbers to maintain funding compliance.
· Determine all site funding allocations and monitor the monthly spending of pantry and hot meal sites; prepare statements, invoices and track reimbursement for all overspending of allocations in cooperation with the Finance Department.
· Create annual schedule of combined compliance site visits and coordinate with United Way Services and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
· In advance and following hunger center site visits, adhere to professional and ethical guidelines during all site visits and while completing required reporting; document discrepancies of site compliance issues, develop, and monitor site improvement plans.
· Monitor site data collection and reporting. Analyze data to improve site operations with a focus on enhancing the capacity and effectiveness of our network food distribution partners and organizational strategies.
· Provide technical assistance to sites on invoicing, product inventory, equipment procurement, etc.
· Plan and execute quarterly hunger center manager meetings, training/appreciation events and other social activities.
· Work with MidTown Market Manager for distribution of food collected during food drives.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
· Bachelor's degree in business administration, public health, nonprofit management, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
· 3-5 years of progressive management experience; strong administrative skills with emphasis on attention to detail.
· Knowledge of procurement, invoicing, and budgeting.
· A high degree of cultural competence and awareness of the diverse cultures served by Hunger Network.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Current ServSafe Food Handler Certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment.
· Excellent technology skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and SharePoint; experience with database management preferred; PantryTrak and SmartChoice™ experience, a plus.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
· Ability to drive non-CDL single-axle 26-foot refrigerated box truck.
· Multi-lingual: Spanish and/or Chinese.
OTHER:
· Some weekend and evening work required.
· Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance required.
· Background check.
