Network Control Center Supervisor supervises network control technicians in the daily activities of a network service function to ensure efficient, reliable, and secure operations that meet users' needs. Oversees routine testing, configuration changes, or network hardware or software upgrades. Being a Network Control Center Supervisor ensures network traffic and performance monitoring processes are running to identify and troubleshoot any issues. Responds to incidents using standard incident management processes, including root cause analysis (RCA) of any issues to identify and deploy corrective actions. Additionally, Network Control Center Supervisor coordinates with vendors and service providers to ensure required service and quality levels are delivered. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Control Center Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Network Control Center Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Summary of Functions

     

    Network Operation Center Specialist are responsible for investigating and resolving network faults and outages, while also reporting network status to stakeholders and enforcing system standardization policies. In addition, developing and executing test plans, verifying customer-related issues, and documenting incidents according to SLA guidelines. Troubleshooting and root cause analysis are key, with a focus on preventing future issues through documentation and procedure development.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    • Investigating faults, outages and issues in the network.
    • Reporting network status to key stakeholders.
    • Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and system performance.
    • Enforce policies for standardizing systems.
    • Verify and follow-up with customer-related issues.
    • Answer incoming calls in a pleasant and helpful manner.
    • Document incidents by creating tickets with complete information following SLA guidelines.
    • Troubleshoot, analyze and research to resolve repeating issues and complex problems documenting findings and developing procedures to prevent future issues.
    • Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.

    Experience/Education

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering preferred. High school diploma/GED required.
    • Two plus years of experience working in networking, IT, or other related field.
    • Company will provide additional training, as necessary.

    • Excellent computer skills including knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
    • Ability to document requirements and specifications.
    • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
    • Ability to identify reoccurring problems and find root cause solutions.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and be able to provide support to end customers.
    • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.

    • Above average oral and written communication skills and creativity applied to resolution of issues.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group is important. 
    • Regular use of the telephone and email for communication is also essential.
    • Sitting for extended period is common.
    • No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 25 pounds of force occasionally may be required. 
    • Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computers, calculator, copiers, and fax machines.
    • Good reasoning ability and decision-making is important. 
    • Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business.
