Network Control Center Supervisor supervises network control technicians in the daily activities of a network service function to ensure efficient, reliable, and secure operations that meet users' needs. Oversees routine testing, configuration changes, or network hardware or software upgrades. Being a Network Control Center Supervisor ensures network traffic and performance monitoring processes are running to identify and troubleshoot any issues. Responds to incidents using standard incident management processes, including root cause analysis (RCA) of any issues to identify and deploy corrective actions. Additionally, Network Control Center Supervisor coordinates with vendors and service providers to ensure required service and quality levels are delivered. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Control Center Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Network Control Center Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Summary
    Supervise the activities of road operations statewide to identify and address issues to ensure service quality within budget and on-time performance parameters.
    Roles and Responsibilities:
    • Working in the Control Center, assigned to a console, observes and supervises Bus Operations activities to ensure safe and effective delivery of transit services to customers through responsible supervision and effective communication, both verbal and in writing.
    • Makes quick and effective decisions, working under intensive time pressures; reacts calmly and professionally in emergency situations; oversees operations as required during emergencies and severe weather conditions. Quickly analyzes a situation and provides a solution.
    • Follows procedures in dispatching personnel for emergency and non-emergency response.
    • Prepares daily comprehensive reports and correspondence, such as CAD incident report, on-time performance report, log reports, inclement weather reports, etc.
    • Communicating with the operator through CAD and a bus radio, troubleshoots mechanical and electronic equipment problems, such as radios, fareboxes, wheelchair lifts, air conditioning and heating, P/A announcements, and other problems, utilizing the Road-Call Reduction Manual.
    • Uses information available from CAD system to evaluate service and adjust as necessary to maintain consistent reliable service levels.
    • Coordinates with Field Regionals and other NJ TRANSIT departments and outside agencies as required to handle extraordinary events, such as: major fuel spills, major accidents, traffic interruptions, weather conditions, special events, and rail disruptions, and implements contingency plans to bring situation under control.
    • Monitors radio sign-on, radio/PA checks, and uses CAD radio communication equipment to communicate information and/or instructions to revenue and non-revenue vehicles.
    • Understands all ADA regulations and NJ TRANSIT policies and procedures.
    Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
    Required:
    • High School Diploma or high school equivalency diploma PLUS
    • Three (3) years of full-time paid work experience in progressively responsible positions; OR,
    • Three (3) years of full-time experience as a NJTRANSIT Bus Operator OR,
    • Associate’s Degree, and one (1) year of full-time paid work experience OR,
    • Honorable discharge from any branch of the US Military.
    • Any equivalent combination of education and experience equal to or greater than three years
    Preferred:
    • Bachelor’s Degree with at least one (1) year of full-time work experience
    Knowledge and Skills:
    • Possess a working knowledge of and ability to adhere to all federal, state law, regulations and NJT policies.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Possess a working knowledge of common transit practices, equipment, terminology, safety precautions and safety rules.
    • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and transportation specific software and applications.
    • Ability to successfully plan, execute, supervise, and inspect the work of others.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to develop and maintain clear, concise and accurate records/activity logs.
    • Ability to create and maintain effective and professional working relationships within all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to deal with both employees and to customer’s courteously, tactfully, and professionally.
    • Ability to identify potentially hazardous conditions and take corrective action to resolve/or remediate.
    • Demonstrate good judgment.
    • Demonstrated critical thinking, the ability to conceptualize, apply, analyze, synthesize, and/or evaluate information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to action and anticipate issues.
    • Ability to make quick but well-reasoned operational decisions.
    • Show dependability, initiative and resourcefulness.
    • Physical condition must be commensurate with the demands of the position.
    • Ability to identify potentially hazardous conditions and take corrective action to resolve/or remediate.
    • Demonstrate good judgment.
    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    • Must possess a valid New Jersey State drivers' license at the time of hire and maintain such license for the duration of employment.
    • Within six months of hire must obtain a CDL B permit.
    • Within twelve months of employment employee must successfully complete NJT’s supervisory training The Art of Managing People I and II and obtain a CDL B with a Passenger Endorsement.

    This is a 24/7 operation employees in the title of Regional Supervisors work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays as NJ Transit operations dictate. Must be willing to respond to emergencies and work extra hours.
