Network Control Technician jobs in Grand Rapids, MI

Network Control Technician monitors performance and performs maintenance processes to ensure network systems operate at required levels of speed and reliability. Identifies and troubleshoots network issues and follows procedures to resolve problems. Being a Network Control Technician documents network issues and configuration changes as soon as they occur. May perform upgrades, preventative maintenance, or equipment installation. Additionally, Network Control Technician follows standard operating procedures to notify users of outages or changes to network status. May require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Control Technician work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.       Summary:
      The Network Technician will assist with the management, coordination and maintenance of the hardware, software, and network systems within the District, working under the direction of the Technology/Media Director.

      Preferred Qualifications:
      College or technical training in computers/technology or equivalent experience will be considered;
      Experience and proficiency with school related technology and network systems;

      Duties/Skills/Responsibilities:
      Ability to assist with managing the district's information systems including network installations, upgrades and maintenance of all hardware and software;
      Assist the receiving, distribution, and installation of new hardware/software as various upgrades become necessary;
      Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems;
      Ability to respond and evaluation of tech support requests;
      Assist with the planning and implementation of emerging technologies;
      Ability to maintain core network technologies and equipment;
      Excellent communication, organization and project management skills, including the ability to follow through completion on multiple simultaneous tasks;
      Ability to handle confidential information with discretion;
      Effectively communicate with all district stakeholders and provide exceptional customer service;
      Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including a high degree of attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
      Ability to relate and work effectively with parents, staff, students, and the public in a multicultural and multiracial community;
      Knowledge and awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others;
