Network Control Technician monitors performance and performs maintenance processes to ensure network systems operate at required levels of speed and reliability. Identifies and troubleshoots network issues and follows procedures to resolve problems. Being a Network Control Technician documents network issues and configuration changes as soon as they occur. May perform upgrades, preventative maintenance, or equipment installation. Additionally, Network Control Technician follows standard operating procedures to notify users of outages or changes to network status. May require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Control Technician work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. What you will do:
- Installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of switches, cables, and other telecommunications equipment in the field to ensure optimum network usage
- Network design, development and implementation
- Provision switches
- Ensure compliance to customer specifications and company requirements
- Coordinate the scheduling of installation and maintenance services
- Provide and evaluate training for installation and maintenance technicians
- Ensure that project / department milestones / goals are met and adhering to approved budgets
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: Level Mid-level
- 5 years Hands-on experience engineering, testing and deploying networks on Optical Networking platforms
- Experience with Ciena and Alcatel-Lucent hardware preferred
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
- Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
